Do you feel like you're stuck in a rut with your job? Do you feel unfulfilled, unhappy, or undervalued?
It may be time to quit your job and work from home.
Sometimes it may be hard to tell if quitting your 9-5 is the right decision for you.
There are so many things to consider. If only there were signs to let you know when to take the plunge.
Lucky for you, there are.
In this post, we'll look at 10 potential signs that it may be time for you to quit your job and start working from home.
1. Work-Life Un-Balanced
If your work/life balance meter is skewed toward work, it’s time to reassess your current situation.
Working from home may provide the freedom and flexibility you crave.
If there isn't a good balance between your work and life then you will always be unhappy.
The average daily commute to work is between 30-60 minutes, that’s an hour or two both ways!
That is a massive chunk out of your day that you’re not getting paid for.
In addition to being time-consuming, commuting is exhausting. Plus, dealing with bad drivers and heavy traffic can be very stressful.
The kind of stress that you don't need in your life.
3. Unnecessary The Costs
If there is no commute to and from work, you save on petrol/gas costs!
You also save money when you’re not buying a morning coffee and muffin on the way. And think about all the money you spend on lunch every day.
As much as we would love to adopt a meal prep routine, many of us don't have the time or energy for it. The ridiculous cost of being at work is just not worth it.
If you are not being paid what you are worth, then this is a sign.
You should never accept being underpaid just because you want to keep your job, especially if the working conditions aren't the best, to begin with.
Many companies fail to pay the current market value for their employees' positions. With a set monthly salary, it is not easy to increase your income.
Even if you try to negotiate a higher salary, the fact that you have to initiate the negotiation in the first place should already be an indication for you to start seeking alternatives.
Working for yourself allows you multiple income streams and the freedom to choose how much you want to get paid.
If you find yourself in a position where your skills are not fully utilized, consider alternatives.
This is especially true with rigid, pre-defined roles that don’t allow you to improve your skill set.
Not being able to expand your skillset can lead to boredom and your work suffering.
When senior management doesn’t allow room for growth, frustration, and resentment will set in. This can lead to a tension-filled work environment.
And no one wants that!

Do you ever feel like a square peg being forced into a round hole? If this sounds familiar, something needs to change.
Nothing sucks the life out of you in the workplace more than being unfulfilled in that workplace.
Just showing up every day, following your routine, and getting nowhere intellectually will chip away at you until there's nothing left.
I know this sounds gloomy, but it's a sad reality that many employees face.
Working from home gives you the freedom to choose the work and clients that stimulate you.
You can decide what challenges to take on and what goals to accomplish.
This is a big sign and should not be ignored.
With the push to return to the office post-COVID, many of us are forced into the toxic work environment we thought was gone for good.
Office gossip, nepotism, favoritism, and corporate politics are just a few things that make office life unbearable.
It doesn't have to be this way.
It shouldn't be this way.
The workplace is supposed to be a space where you have to be most productive. Dealing with office politics should not exist at all.
It's not good for your mental health and certainly not good for your emotional well-being.
In the traditional work environment, you have to deal with unnecessary water cooler talk, long-winded meetings in fishbowl conference rooms and colleagues stopping by your desk every few minutes for no reason.
This causes distraction and leads to a drop in productivity.
Sometimes all these shenanigans prevent you from getting all your work done during office hours.
This means you have to work later than usual, which leads to more stress. More stress is exactly what you don't need.
A big sign that you should quit your 9-5 job is when you no longer feel passionate about your work.
When we do work we don’t feel passionate about, we are less creative and less enthusiastic. Which means we become uninspired.
This leads to stagnation.
If this is the case, you should not delay your departure any longer.
There is no such thing as job security.
Your job is secure only as long as your company is doing well.
If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and can build a good client base while providing excellent service, you can secure yourself against uncertain times.
Working from home is the only way to do this. It also allows you to create multiple income streams.
Multiple income streams mean less chance of being caught with your pants down in another pandemic situation.
